Description: Sheryl is a juvenile female (16 weeks) Grey-Headed Flying-Fox who was found in an inner city terrace house garden. This isn't a video for sensitive people to watch, but I have put the graphic footage after the disclaimer with a warning screen beforehand. If you still watch it, I warned you. Her story isn't great; she has hit powerlines and suffered catastrophic electrocution injuries, including the loss of both thumbs and horrible damage to her one wing in particular. I wish these injuries could kill cleanly rather than this agonisingly slow half death. All I could do for this girl was to get her to a vet for a quick painless euthanasia. RIP little Sheryl (named by the MOP (member of public)). The post disclaimer footage shows her injuries post mortem, and shows maggots infesting her wounds. These maggots eat living and dead flesh but seem to prefer the living flesh - they are not doing her a favour. Sheryl smelled like she was already dead with a ghastly smell of decay with an overlay of burnt. I have rarely been so glad to help a bat die.
