Description: In this video I'm showing my cleaning method on a 20 Kreuzer 1781 silver coin (from Austria), as some of you wanted to see another cleaning videos in the past. . I'm using distilled water only, without any chemicals! I recovered this coin during one of my metal detecting trips (You can watch the whole hunt here: youtu.be/1jxRe42Gtww ). This was coin # 11 from a tiny spot and 20cm of depth. The previous video from a hunt with 10 silver coins can be seen here: youtu.be/4nfUSXkP8Jc When I got home the coin was immediately soaked in distilled water for 2-3 weeks. I changed the water a few times. Did this help the cleaning? I don't know to be honest, it sure didn't made things worse. I have to admit that this coin cleaned very easily. I've chosen this one out of two because one side was black. I thought it is going to be more difficult to clean, but it turned out to be the opposite. The second coin from this trip was much more persistent (the soil looked brown, compared to the red color here). Once I realized it, the video was already made and I didn't had the energy to do everything one more time. I cleaned the second coin exactly like in this video. It just took longer with many more brush strokes and the additional use of a tooth pick, like in my previous example: youtu.be/uQFMiCBUf-I Maybe in the future I will find another silver coin that will be more difficult to clean.
