Description: #BodyBizarre #BornDifferent #ConjoinedTwins Artur and Heitor Rocha, 5 years-old, from Brazil were born conjoined at the hips and share two legs as you can see. But what you can't see is that they also share a bladder, intestines, liver and genitals. Separating them does seem very complicated and isn't a straightforward case. What can be divided? and who will get what? if you know what I mean... Despite the risk, the parents wanted to give their sons a better quality of life as Heitor's body weight was pressing on Artur's spine causing him frequent pain and pressure on his internal organs. Doctors deemed the operation possible and the twins underwent 15 procedures to grow extra skin using silicone expanders to prepare for the surgery. As their mom reports: "They were excited and looking forward to the separation". The surgical operation lasted 18-hours and the twins were successfully separated. Artur, unfortunately, suffered from complications and 3 days later his heart stopped. Heitor, now 6, was able to recover and go home but without his brother whom he considers now as a his guardian angel. The family is happy of Heitor's progress and says that Artur will always be in their hearts. Heitor slowly started having a normal life: playing with his sister, reading and going to school, something he always wanted to do. He is a lively boy and says that his dream is to become a singer.
