Description: It was about time I created a logo for myself. Logos with saw blades are ubiquitous, I needed something a little different. Measurement tools made the most sense. I've always loved the art on Sanborn insurance maps, they're a pretty big inspiration for a lot of designers. This logo heavily referenced the Sanborn insurance maps for Baltimore and Washington DC, since I live in the Baltimore/DC area it was fitting (Baltimore for the typography of the lower case, and DC for the uppercase and overall layout). Since it may not be obvious, I used several preliminary sketches and mockups as references to finalize and sketch the design onto this slab of live edge walnut (I did not just whip up this idea on camera, sight unseen). I had most of the line elements already sketched up in some form off to the side, but bringing it to life and adding that "Sanborn" feel was something I wanted to show on camera. I really should've chosen a lighter wood to draw this on, walnut is too dark and it hides the line art of the background tools. I'll get this finalized, refined and embellished as vector art in Illustrator so that I can get some stickers made, if anyone is interested. ► SUBSCRIBE : youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=measuredworkshop ► INSTAGRAM: instagram.com/measuredworkshop
