I'm looking to start a series where i VoD review viewers fire mage gameplay and break it down explaining mistakes and improvements they can make to their game here on yt along with doing it 1 on 1 so come join and post some vods in the #vod section if you want a chance to be in one of my videos! I also will be posting free guides and resources for fire mages looking to improve in the arena and answer any general questions so feel free to join and up your game. even tho 2v2 is not a serious bracket, been having a lot of fun pushing. especially with how high the current inflation is, i'm trying to set some PRs for myself in all brackets while this lasts. generally fire mages are not known to be a very good class for healer dps 2v2. they usually see the most success running rogue mage double dps as a setup based short game class. i'd usually rank them a b tier class in 2v2, maybe a tier at best whereas in 3v3 they're definitely considered s tier, but with the implementation of corruptions i think they can be a lot more competitive than usual. still not as good as some classes for 2v2 such as DH, DK, Rogue, Warlock, etc but i feel you can keep up to some degree. there are some comps that i fight at the highest rating that seem unbeatable but when paired with a good rdruid and you set up polys and clones into pre cast pies followed with rake stuns, bashes, vortex, and roots you can set up clean greater pyros. i have an easy time playing at 2200 - 2400 rating, a lot of times just 1 shotting teams with lucid bracers but once you get into the 2500+ bracket it can get really hard and frustrating when they rotate all their cc and interrupts on all your greater pyroblasts and when they finally have nothing to stop you, they just LoS. i'll explain in this video how to have an easier time playing and pushing as a fire mage in 2v2. CORRUPTION BREAKDOWN gpy default cast time 4 seconds 26.5% haste 3.5 seconds more haste, shorter cast time but you sacrifice versa which is your main pvp stat. in 3s generally you want to stack versa since you are the main kill target and having low vers with 2 dps pumping on you is a no go but in 2v2 you can get away with sacrificing some versa. i found that playing higher versa is more important against melee that are constantly trucking on you especially with gushing but versus caster teams you can play a lower versa higher haste build. versus casters having high haste nets more value due to being able to cast faster than them and rotate through spammable cc, kicks and other pseudo interrupts such as stuns, groundings, knockbacks, easier. aside from the versa haste balance, i like to toss in 1 racing pulse rank 3 (explain how it works). it costs quite a bit of corruption so i would only wear one for now but eventually as our corruption resistance increases i'll probably experiment with 2 or even 3. every time a racing pulse rank 3 procs, it cuts the cast time of greater pyro by .5 seconds. so instead of having 3.5 second pies, you'll have 3 second. this proc has a 25%-35% uptime in a general 3-5 minute 2v2 match which is a pretty high proc rate. only lasts 4 seconds but that gives you a lot of time to squeeze in a pie or two. ontop of that i run vita trinket which when procs also gives a ton of haste. especially with my mythic version which also cuts down another .5 seconds or so. so if both racing pulse and vita procs, you can get 2.5s or less pies depending on other haste procs such as overwhelming power minor azerite trait, elemental whirl, essence of focusing iris (if you're using it). i've seen pies as short as 2.2 seconds with this build and i'm not even using 2 racing pulses! i have a weak aura showing the racing pulse and vita procs in the center of my ui if you haven't noticed already. the racing pulse is the red bloody fist icon and the vita is the blue lightning so you can get an idea of when they're up. also the percentage on the left bottom side of my cast bar is my haste at that time and my cast time for spells is on the left of my cast bar so you can get an idea of how fast i'm getting those pies and polys in certain situations. like i mentioned earlier, fire mage usually isnt the best class to 2v2 with but you can see how (with these corruptions) that they can be a viable challenger in this bracket.
