Preacher Lawson was born In Portland, Oregon, but raised most of his adolescence in Memphis, TN. He moved 20 times before age 10, but if you ask him what city he’s from, he’ll say Orlando, FL. Because that's where he grew as a comedian. Preacher started writing jokes when he was 16 for and decided to perform for the first time at age 17 (as a bet between he and his mother). Best decision of his life. Preacher won the 2015 Funniest Comedian In Florida, the 2016 Seattle International Comedy Competition and, in 2017, appeared on season 12 of “America’s Got Talent.” He made it to the finals (top 10) and appeared in the America’s Got Talent Live! show in Las Vegas. In 2019, Preacher was invited to compete on “America’s got Talent: The Champions,” advanced to the finale and received the most votes from superfans of the United States. In the finale, he came in 5th place overall. Preacher also competed in “Britain's Got Talent: The Champions” later in 2019 and advanced through to the finale after receiving the most votes from superfans in the audience. He finished in the top 7. In November 2019, Preacher released his first comedy special, “Preacher Lawson: Get To Know Me” on BET+ (bit.ly/PreacherBET). Filmed at the Vic Theatre in Chicago, the hour-long special centers around Preacher’s life experiences, including his run on American’s Got Talent and his ongoing life struggles with kitten allergies, veganism and cold weather-induced ashiness. Preacher currently performs stand up comedy across the country (tour dates at preacherlawson/tour) and creates content for his YouTube and social media channels.
