It doesn’t matter if you have a full rack of pentatonic licks, or even just one lick; this Blues arpeggio idea is something that anyone can start using right away to get their Blues soloing sounding way better. The best thing about Blues arpeggios is that you are going to hit every note of the Dominant 7 chord, (this is the main chord applied across Blues). The Blues arpeggio contains no unwanted tones outside of the diatonic Dom. 7 chord tones (not even one). This Blues arpeggio sound works because it grabs into the tones that trace each note of the “Dominant 7” chord of the backing progression. If your options feel like they are limited, not to worry, the lesson mentions options from the Pentatonic scale, as well as, how to use tones from the diatonic key. If you find your Blues arpeggio phrases are too light on notes for particular phrases, you’ll need to get used to performing ideas in more limited ways, with a higher sense of rhythmic phrasing. This lesson helps equalize the ways Blues phrasing can work for everyone, no matter your prior skill level.
