Let's Learn about LIONFISH! •Lionfish are gorgeous creatures, which are naturally found in the Indo-Pacific. •They are popular aquarium fish because of their beautiful colors and strange shape. •They have long, decorated venomous spines that are used to defend themselves, and to help them corner their prey. •Because their MOUTH is HUGE, Lionfish swallow their food in a single GULP! •Thanks to humans, Lionfish have made their way into the Atlantic and Caribbean, where they don’t belong. None of the animals there eat them, yet they eat almost ANYTHING that swims past them! •Lionfish can live up to 15 years, and release as many as 15,000 eggs every week, so they have lots of babies, and multiply REALLY quickly! •Lionfish have been spotted as deep as 1,000 feet, or 305 Meters in the ocean. That’s as deep as 25 school buses stacked end to end! AND THAT'S A LIONFISH IN A MERMAID MINUTE!
