Description: Compilation from a full journey between Mumbai and Kochi aboard the Mumbai LTT Kochuvelli Superfast Express. The journey was undertaken just prior to the monsoons last year when the train was a regular with twin WDP3As. Enjoy the furious passage with the twin Alcos, belching smoke. We start off in the afternoon from Mumbai and head southwards through Panvel and Roha. Next morning, it is a beautiful morning at Ankola as we swiftly cross southern Karnataka. The station of Mangalore Junction is almost deserted at this hour. Post Mangalore, our exciting journey past the Arabian Sea starts after we cross the Netravathi River. We hug the coast and get a perfect view of the sea at Bekal, the waves surging forth. We cut right through the Malabar coast, past Kannur and Kozhikode, and from Shoranur, curve through the Waddakanchery ghats. I had a connecting flight that evening and hence switched trains at Thrisur in order to get off at Aluva. The final leg of the journey was completed aboard the Ernad Express. Notable crossings include the Double Decker Express, Mandovi Express, Okha Ernakulam Express, Tejas Express (WDP3A hauled), Jan Shatabdi Express, Chennai Mangalore Express, Malabar Express, Pondicherry Mangalore Express, Chennai Mangalore Mail, Coimbatore Mangalore Intercity, Ernad Express, Dhanbad Alleppey Express, Parasuram Express, Ernakulam Bangalore Express, Kochuvelli LTT Garib Rath and Kochuveli Porbandar Express (Lucknow WDM3D).
