The new 747 size was originally available in only oak as a Neil Peart signature line. It’s similar to a 5A size with a short taper, oval tip, and longer length. The new Spyr mallet line is designed to be more durable and consistent. The mallet core is overmolded and threaded onto the shaft, with a new wrapping machine for the heads. The series includes 24 new mallets total for marimba, vibraphone, xylophone, and glockenspiel. The new color-coded hardness scale, complete with accent color threaded into the head of the mallet, offers easy identification for professionals and students alike.
