Description: Pippa is a juvenile female (16 weeks) Grey-Headed Flying-Fox who was reported to be on the side of a road in a quiet street. When new rescue Jo arrived, she was nowhere to be found, however I insisted Jo look further, partly because the bats are often in a nearby tree or low to the ground just watching you, or maybe under a nearby car, or they occasionally crawl half a block of more to what they perceive to be a safer and quieter location. Also, I wanted Jo to being me any bat so she would be at my house because I needed to pick up Lola my car after she got fixed, and would have to walk back 5 kms to the service place, and since Jo had a car and it was kind of on her way home, I insisted I needed her personal uber service. And too, sometimes your most memorable rescues are when you find a bat which you thought was unfindable, and the satisfaction you get from that means you're more likely to continue looking for other disappeared bats longer before giving up. I wanted Jo to experience this for herself. So Pippa (from Phillip St) came to me for assessment and overnight care and I got to pickup Lola for the trip to Wattle Flat to release the micros the next day, and Jo picked Pippa up from me the next morning when she had survived and thrived overnight. Pippa has gone to the Central Coast to be a buddy for another very late baby in care, and she's happily growing up until she can be released.
