Description: The COVID-19 pandemic was incredibly disruptive to the higher ed learning and assessment experience. We know the accelerated shift to online learning has not been smooth for students, educators or administrators and while online learning was well underway for some schools, the majority of students, educators or administrators were not prepared which resulted in a year+ of chaotic and broad learning and assessment practices, some well suited and others not so much to the online experience. As students, educators and administrators prepare to go back to a largely in-person learning experience, Course Hero conducted a study among it’s users - both educators and students - on the topic of online learning and assessment. The survey helps to shed light on student and educator views around the experience of teaching and learning and the factors that are motivating—and creating barriers—to student success in a changing higher education landscape. We purposely asked educators and students the same questions to identify alignments and misalignments. The findings are fascinating and we hope they will be helpful to our community as they prepare for the fall semester. Shireen Tofig, Associate User Experience Researcher at Course Hero will share the findings of the study and a panel of educators and students will discuss the findings in a lively dialogue led by Sam DeReign, Senior Educator Content Strategist at Course Hero. The panel will be invited to share their perspectives and real life experiences to add context to the data in the research findings.
