Description: Hia! I had to film this super quickly before going on holidays so my apologies if it was too long and rambly! I also didn’t get the chance to rewatch this before posting so sorry if I said something weird.. :P In this Video I focused mostly on songs with chords and a melody with lyrics sung over it, but if you want me to make one talking more about composing, let me know! For the record: The chords don’t need to be overly complicated! Learn a few basic ones at first, simplicity can also be beautiful. Then as you learn, you can add more if you want. But a song can still be great without a super complicated chord progression :) My first songs with a guitar (for example “little soldier” which I posted to YouTube in 2015 or so) was a very basic one, with a very basic strumming pattern. It wasn’t the most complicated song, but still, to this day, I really like it. It means a lot to me, not just because of how it sounds, but the connections I have to it. Just let yourself go in your own direction! Write what is fulfilling, not necessarily what’s impressive ;) I think that’s why a lot of people give up on music in the early stages. They try to do what’s impressive instead of what makes them happy, personally. Then they get bored with it because it’s challenging and they give up. But if you play simply because you enjoy it (even if it may not be impressive to others at first), you’ll automatically improve as time passes! I hope this was helpful, best of luck! :D I hope you’re all well! Sending love to whomever needs it! x - Kovu
