Description: A collection of surviving images spanning the entire decade of the 1810s. The main focus here is Regency-era Britain but other locations are sprinkled throughout. This stuff is pure eye-candy to me, from the long-forgotten details to the elaborate fashions. I thought it would be interesting to take quality materials that are scattered all throughout the internet and cobble them into one place to give a better sense of the era as it was. Though this is just a series of pictures, it took a considerable amount of time to put this together - after tracking and narrowing down hundreds of the cleanest high resolution images, I put them into chronological order, applied faulty rotation fixes, added captions and finally heavily touched-up brightness/colors to re-liven and give a sense of consistency throughout the presentation. The accompanying music is Schubert's Piano Quintet in A Major Op. 114 D. 667 written in 1819, recorded by the International String Quartet in an early electric recording from 1928. Enjoy the historical slideshow.
