Because of their influence in the music and on drumming, we saw the genre of rock music born...and of course this gave way to thousands of offshoots of rock drumming and music (punk, alternative, new wave, grunge, pop punk, hardcore, grindcore, etc.). If it were not for the willingness of these drummers to break from the norm, try new things, and help usher in a new musical style, much of the music we listen to today would not exist.
