Description: PARENT TOT 8 0: Practicing Roll Overs and Back Floats on the table castle At 7 months, Monet was able to do her back floats without a wetsuit and ready to begin trying roll-overs without one. Her mother prepped her for it in this lesson by first practicing on the table castle. Parents will be more courageous about letting go and allowing the child to experience their natural buoyancy in the very shallow water. Then, follow this with gentle, errorless roll-over practice from front to back. Allow them to enjoy a back float after each roll. Count to three before every pick-up. Notice how organic Karen was in motoring Monet through the roll. She assisted her in the way that Monet would do it if independent. She would barely initiate the roll and let Monet transition independently into a balanced float. She gradually moved her off the table smoothly, allowing her to float the same way she did on top of the castle. * FIRST TIME TO ROLL-OVER AND FLOAT INDEPENDENTLY WITHOUT A WETSUIT This gentle patterned roll-over progressed to a successful falling roll-over off the table castle. It was her first time to do it without the wetsuit. Without wearing the tight wetsuit, perhaps she was more limber, and more able to actually roll. The wetsuit helps them float, it doesn’t necessarily help them roll. However, because she is so comfortable and balanced when back floating, she doesn’t need it as an aid for that, so she is now able to do both with full independence. No teaching aid, no teacher touch. For more information check out Watersafe.com and SmartFishAcademy.com
