Description: In this episode of Houzz TV Live, designer Katelyn Gilmour gives Rick Spence a tour of her San Jose, California, home. In the kitchen, which she opened up to the nearby living room, deep slate-navy base cabinets bring style and drama to creamy upper cabinets and white quartz countertops. Geometric backsplash tile adds pattern and texture. In an adjacent dining area, a built-in banquet offers cushioned seating at a hammered steel-topped table. In the living room, Gilmour vaulted the ceiling, widened a window and created a gallery wall of mirrors to give the appearance of more space while working within the same footprint. Navy and cream tones, a leopard print chair and a reclaimed wood coffee table create relaxed style. And in a bathroom, a custom gray vanity, mixed metal finishes, crackled white subway tile and mother-of-pearl penny mosaic floor tile deliver drama and elegance.
