Description: Uweka Band performing live on air at ZNBC Zambia Studios in 1981. Uweka Band was also fondly known as Uweka Stars by many fans. There biggest hit song was Atunoya Kawlitata as heard in this clip. Uweka Band members were mostly talented in the instrument known as Kalindula, a type of bass guitar originating in Africa in the 20th century. Kalindula was a popular instrument in Zambia, along with Banjo's which together give features of 20th century popular music with rhythmic and metric elements.
