Description: Backdraft is a fire special effects show that opened at Universal Studios Hollywood on July 1st, 1992 and Universal Studios Japan on March 31st, 2001. Based on the film of the same name, the show teaches guests about how the pyrotechnic effects for the film were created and experience some of them first hand. In this episode we explore the opening of Universal Studios Hollywood’s Lower Lot in 1991 and the addition of Backdraft attraction, the construction and precautions required for the special fire effects, the show itself and the closure of the Hollywood attraction in 2010.
