This is an appeal to emotion argument since evolutionarily we want more than anything to be consistent (Cialdini, 1984). Part of the evolutionary purpose of a worldview is to aid us in seeking reliable, aka consistent, cooperation partners. We hate to be inconsistent as individuals. Darth intuitively understands this. But consistency bias can be devastating in a survival strategy since when the environment inevitably changes a strategy that once worked can be useless in the new environment. Worldviews are NOT logic. Worldviews are a survival and reproductive strategy. I would argue most worldviews are logically incoherent, Christianity specifically in the case of miracles which break the laws of physics. These logical inconsistencies are a problem in the realm of logic and reason, but in the realm of worldviews and survival strategies, they are an asset, since they motivate organisms to survive and reproduce in situations where the factual truth--life is ultimately pointless and meaningless--will stifle our survival instincts. youtu.be/bsNDrWhHmSA?t=3957 - Darth admits that worldviews are survival and reproductive strategies. These worldviews allow humans to cooperate over time. They adapt to changing social, political and environmental dynamics.
