Description: NOTE: SSH is now disabled by default on latest version of Rasbian Jessie. You'll need to add a blank file called SSH into the boot directory after you format it with Win32DiskImager. I just right clicked in the boot directory (opened in Windows Explorer after the disk image was installed), created a new text document, right clicked the file name, and renamed it ssh Make sure you remove the file extension. Cheers! Deja vu? What's up? In this video, I'm starting from the ground up for my new home automation system. In this video, I'll quickly be touching on installing Raspbian Jessie, Home Assistant, configuring wireless networking, setting up Samba, DuckDNS, and Let's Encrypt. I know I've covered these before, but wanted to make this video as a good summary for people getting started. Don't worry. Now that I have HA back up, we'll be jumping into the good stuff fast. Much to come in the next few weeks and months. Can't wait to tackle it one video at a time. Let me know if you have any comments, thoughts, questions, etc. Cheers, Ben ***From the Raspberry Pi Website*** As of the November 2016 release, Raspbian has the SSH server disabled by default. You will have to enable it manually. This is done using raspi-config: Enter sudo raspi-config in the terminal, first select advanced options, then navigate to ssh, press Enter and select Enable or disable ssh server. For headless setup, SSH can be enabled by placing a file named 'ssh', without any extension, onto the boot partition of the SD card. --- Console Commands --- geni.us/HAquickstart ---Favorite Parts--- Raspberry Pi 3 - geni.us/raspberrypi3 Case - geni.us/2rQEgy5 SD Card - geni.us/PbZS2oD Power Supply - geni.us/2ABPd1D LIFX - geni.us/r0dC Aeotec Z-Stick Gen 5 - geni.us/N2ULv NodeMCU ESP8266 Chip - geni.us/6i9vl ---Resources--- My Website - bruhautomation.com Home Assistant - home-assistant.io HA Forum - community.home-assistant.io HA Chatroom - gitter.im/balloob/home-assistant HA GitHub - github.com/home-assistant
