Colombian born, London based producer, Santiago Morales, AKA Alma De La Selva. Released his first solo project on Colombian Collective, Indio, ‘De La Selva’ aims at what’s essential, just like its track names: ‘Alma’, ‘Madre’, ‘Tapir’, ‘Tambor’, ‘Casa’ o ‘Tierra’ for example. It is a spiritual and contemplative search, that travels through water-based sonic ambiances, to tracks that bounce over bass lines, from indigenous chants and rainsticks to ritual dances around the fire. Elements of rap, jazz, Latin, psychedelia, and more make De La Selva a unique sonic experience from its detail and spiritual impact. De La Selva is a visceral project for Alma: he was free on the thinking process and empirical in the creation one. It is a project for healing, therapy and internal release for those you hear it, as well as for its creator. His work as a music producer sometimes ties him to certain structures depending on the artist he works with, their audience, their musical genre, etc. Therefore his work under Alma, and through a project like De La Selva, allowed him to create organically, without much thought process behind it.
