We both have the same birthday (August 15), which I thought was friggin amazing and totally meant to be. I've been receiving a ton of questions about Alfie and Corgis in general so I wanted to answer them here: Where did you get your Corgi from? ➝ I won't say specifically which breeder since I honestly believe everyone who wants a pet should do their own research. I spent a lot of time finding the perfect corgi and breeder that would have the right temperament and was lucky enough to get Alfie. Keep in mind if you want an AKC Corgi then it will take a long time. The waiting lists are long and theres a vetting process potential families must go through. Its completely normal for breeders to ask " what type of housing do you live in?" or " How much do you make per year". Its all questions that they ask in order to know if you are financial capable of handling a new life. And of course they want their corgi puppies to go into the right families. How much did you pay for your Corgi? ➝ He was about $1200. But please please please keep in mind that upfront cost is NOTHING compared to what you will spend on your puppy down the line. Have an emergency fund and puppy fund for your corgi. Vaccinations, food, treats, collars, leashes, toys, other essentials add up quick. Why did you not adopt? ➝ This was my own choice and it seems to cause a lot of tension in the comments section. It all came down to the fact that there are NO CORGI PUPPIES where I live that are up for adoption. The only ones that would be available are much older corgis ( 4+ years) and even then, they aren't close to where I live or even available often. I also have a 5 year old husky that doesn't get a long with other female dogs, and is just picky with other animals in general. I needed a puppy that would also be happy with my other dog and was male. What type of food do you feed your corgi puppy? ➝ Currently Alfie is eating Taste of the Wild -Salmon version. His coat is shiny right after I switched him to it! There are a lot of other dog foods out there, just make sure its grain-free, and the first few ingredients on the bag are proteins and not fillers. Advice for future corgi owners or puppy owners in general? ➝ Be patient and know that your puppy is never doing anything to spite you. They basically babies and you have to teach them how to behave properly. Personally I do positive reinforcement and it has worked wonderfully. Alfie goes potty as soon as he reaches grass and now understand how to tell us he needs to go outside ( sits by the door and scratches or bark) Why does he have blue eyes if hes a Corgi? ➝ Hes not a full corgi!
