Description: SUBSCRIBE: bit.ly/1dKbiT4 A teenage girl in India has not left her home for a year due to her ‘embarrassing’ facial condition which has seen her cheeks and chin swell to an extraordinary size. Suman Kumari, 17, from a slum in Delhi, India’s capital city, suffers from a rare disorder which has never been diagnosed but has left her face completely disfigured. ‘I feel embarrassed by the way I look,’ she said. ‘I hate to see myself in the mirror and I know nobody likes to look at me. I know I’ll never be a beautiful bride and get married; nobody would want to marry me. People want attractive girls today. There is nobody who would accept a girl like me. I do get upset sometimes but I do not blame anyone for my condition, I guess it’s my destiny. Suman was born normal, just like her siblings Roshni Devi, 26, Ravi Kumar, 24, Vinod Kumar, 22. But her father Dalbir Singh, 51, and mother Meena Devi, 42, noticed changes to her face after she celebrated her 10th birthday. Meena Devi, a housewife, said: ‘It started with minor swelling on her face. We took her to several hospitals but none offered her affordable treatment. They took a piece of skin from her chin, blood tests but never called her in for treatment. But unfortunately, it has only grown with time. ‘It is heartbreaking to see my daughter like this. I see other girls in our area and it is devastating to see my child locked in her house as she feels embarrassed to face anyone.’ Get the latest headlines: stories.coverasiapress.com Like us on Facebook: facebook.com/CoverAsiaPress Follow us on Twitter: twitter.com/coverasiapress Follow us on Instagram: instagram.com/coverasiapress Please contact news@coverasiapress.com to licence this copyright footage.
