At the last supper, Jesus commanded that people should love one another as he has loved us. Jesus then washed his disciples’ feet during his final meal before his arrest, as a mark of humility, as an act of kindness. Jesus meant the gesture as one that encouraged his disciples to serve others, in a spirit of servanthood. The act symbolises the service and charity of JESUS Christ, who came ‘not to be served, but to serve’ Let us pray Heavenly Father, You show us by example how to love and serve others. As we celebrate Maundy Thursday today, we remember the Last supper of Your beloved son Jesus Christ with the Apostles. The last supper where Jesus Christ shared the gift of His most Sacred Body and Blood, soon to be broken and poured out on the Cross for the salvation of the world. At the Last supper, Jesus Christ knelt down and washed the feet of his disciples. By washing the feet, Jesus Christ taught us to love and serve others with a gracious and humble heart. Jesus Christ also commanded us all to love one another as He has loved us. Heavenly Father, Your love for us is abundant and it is perfect in every way. Help us to know that love, to embrace it and to allow it into our lives. Teach us to lead and live through love. Teach us to love and serve others with a loving and a humble heart. Help us to be kind hearted, compassionate and forgiving like Your son Jesus Christ. Gracious and loving Father, Your son Jesus Christ chose Your will for him, over his own desires. Help us to remember Christ's example and give us the strength to do Your will even when it seems difficult. When we face the crosses of our own lives, give us Your courage and strength to obey the divine Will of the Father. Give us the strength to wash each other's feet, not only in today's ritual moments but in all moments of our lives. You are always with us, especially in our times of need. Show us how we can honor you and bring glory to your name, by walking in the way of Jesus. Give us grace and mercy as we try and sometimes fail to follow your teachings. Guide us when we are not sure which way to go. And Give us wisdom to trust you in all things. For your love brings light and life to all who seek it.
