Description: The Norman Kingdom of Sicily (1130 - 1194 CE) composed of Norman-conquered territory of former Emirate of Sicily, Byzantine Catepanate of Italy & Lombard Principalities of Salerno & Benevento. The kingdom created under Norman King Roger II de Hauteville uniting diverse people of Sicily and southern Italy inhabited by people from various faith and culture. The Kingdom plays important role of transferring eastern knowledge of Medicine & Science of the Muslims and Byzantines toward medieval western Europe. During the rule of King/Sultan Roger II, Sicily continue to thrive as Naval power, center of commerce and also center of knowledge inhabited by Arabs, Berbers, Greeks, Lombards, Jews and Normans in medieval dark age Europe. It developed diplomatic & commercial relationship while also waging wars with various states in the Mediterranean.
