Romer Troxell was born and raised in Kentucky and after completing three years of high school, enlisted in the army on February 10, 1941. Romer later became a Staff Sergeant and fought in Italy, Algeria and Morocco and won a Purple Heart. During the war Romer married Edna Kaufman and on November 6, 1945 the couple had a son they named Charles.
