Description: Welcome to my Vintage Table Fan Restoration. I hope you all enjoy it and learn a few tips and tricks along the way. So as always my first job is to give the fan a good visual inspection to make sure that i can be saved and apart from a little rust and grime this old fan appears to be in good shape but i will know more when i open up the casings. The first item to remove is the fan and guard these are freed by removing 3 screws. They are then easily lifted off. i can then remove the face plate and see the motor. Before i can remove the motor from the housing i need to disconnect the old nasty wiring and pull out a piece of spring steel that secures the motor. Once these parts are disconnected and removed i can simply slide the motor out and disassemble the rest of the unit. After disassembly i applied paint stripper onto the housing and stand and while that was working i went over the the sand blaster and blasted the fan and guard back to bare steel ready for primer. Once finished blasting i returned to remove the paint stripper and saw that the metal was covered in surface rust this was easily cured with a little bath in DEOX C . while the rust eater was doing its work the motor was stripped and placed in the ultrasonic cleaning tank to remove decades of grease and grime. I then took the now spotless clean parts to the sink and rinsed them off before leaving them to fully dry out on the heater. While the motor parts were drying off i made a start on the paint work side of things. I first etched all the parts then gave them 3 coats of high build primer to even out the surface. While that was curing i set about the next job of zinc plating the now rust free bolts. This was done but dipping the parts in several acid baths, electro plating the parts then sealing them with a passivate, blue was used in the project. When the primer had cured i removed the parts from the spray booth and wet flatted them to remove any imperfections and make them ready for the top coats of paint. I could have gone with the original colours but i fancied jazzing it up a little so lime green and grey white was chosen and im delighted with the result. Once everything had a chance to cure properly then i could reassemble the unit and test it out, but not before replicating the original sticker with some printable vinyl. And with that applied the project was done. I hope you will all join me again soon and I also hope you enjoyed the video Stay Tuned and i will see you all again soon.
